As public interest in natural history and the little things in our environment has grown, there has been an increasing demand for information and engagement. The suite of technologies available to us are now at a stage, where that engagement can be harnessed directly in the collection and curation of high quality data.
Citizen science, which proved difficult in the past, is a growing reality now that we can house an unlimited volume of digitized vouchers of data collected by amateurs, the public generally, and even children.
These initiatives and engagement, not only provide an incredible service to scientists and policy advisors, but they can provide a transformative educational experience for the participants as well.
